THE BUDAPEST ESPRIT CONFERENCE STARTED A YEAR AGO

Exactly one year ago, the ESPRit conference commenced in Budapest. To mark this anniversary, the recordings of the presentations from the event have been made available on the organization’s YouTube channel.

The ESPRit (European Society for Periodical Research) held its tenth interdisciplinary conference, which, for the first time, took place in Eastern and Central Europe. The conference featured over fifty presentations from approximately fourteen different countries. It explored the functioning of periodicals from the 18th century to the present day. The central question of the conference was how periodicals presented, shaped, sustained, contested, opposed, or reinterpreted the hierarchical relationships within specific communities, audiences, or regions. The conference was hosted at the Museum of Fine Arts – Central European Research Institute for Art History (KEMKI), with the Kassák Museum – Petőfi Literary Museum serving as a co-organizer.
