The Kassák Museum is a member institution of the Petőfi Literary Museum, and has operated since 1976 in the building of the Zichy-castle in Óbuda. The museum preserves, researches and presents the material and intellectual legacy of Hungarian avant-grde writer, visual artist and editor Lajos Kassák (1887–1967). Our aim is that the museum step up to be an acknowledged location of Kassák researches carried out in the Central European region and to become a factor in the international research of avant-gardes and modernisms.
We welcome visitors to explore Lajos Kassák’s life through our permanent exhibition of his highly influential periodicals, while our temporary exhibitions present the avant-garde and modernism in their art historical, cultural and social contexts. Our exhibitions are accompanied by lecture series, conferences, and events for families and children.
In 2011, the Kassák Museum has renewed its exhibition space and exhibition concept. In 2012, our new identity won two of the world’s most prestigious design awards (Red Dot: Communication Design and Good Design).
