Lajos Kassák's Magazines and the Network of European Avant-Garde

English guided tour in the permanent exhibition by Merse Pál Szeredi

The exhibition entitled Kassák! provides a comprehensive view of the versatile oeuvre, the editorial, art and literary activities and the public roles of the great figure of Hungarian avant-garde. With the help of the contemporary documents, publications and works of fine art one can follow the highlights of Kassák’s career and the personal aspects of his course of life. Illustrations help visitors find their way around in the diverse international connections and the rich literary and journalistic work of Kassák. The different topics can also be studied in digital form with even more illustrations and explanatory texts.

Merse Pál Szeredi graduated at the Department of Art History of the Eötvös Loránd University, currently he is working on his PhD dissertation. His research focuses on the work of Lajos Kassák and his circles between 1919 and 1926 with special emphasis on the analysis of their international networks. He is working in the Kassák Museum since 2014 as an editor of the Online Avant-garde Database and as a researcher in the project reconsidering the avant-garde magazines of Kassák.
